Join us in recognizing milk’s history — and its role in health today.
National Milk Day celebrates the day milk deliveries first began in the United States in 1878—when milk was first delivered in sterilized glass bottles, a major breakthrough that advanced milk safety and expanded access to a trusted, wholesome food.
Today, it’s a reminder of milk’s enduring role in public health—from the safety assured through modern pasteurization to the remarkable functional benefits delivered through the dairy matrix, where nutrients like calcium, vitamin D, protein and B vitamins work together to support whole-body health.
As we share our National Milk Day content and activations, we honor milk’s legacy while highlighting its ongoing contribution to nourishing families and communities every day.
Join us in celebrating National Milk Day by taking part in the Cheers to Milk Challenge—a simple, celebratory way to spotlight why milk matters. Partners, schools, families and community organizations are invited to share a short “cheers to milk” video or photo on social media paired with one meaningful fact connected to this year’s themes: milk’s safety, its functional health benefits through the dairy matrix, or how milk supports every life stage.
