Davis, Calif. — Dairy Council of California, in partnership with National Dairy Council, hosted
Nuestros Sabores: A Culinary Medicine Symposium
on October 28-29, 2025, at UC Davis. The two-day event brought together nutrition leaders, researchers, and culinary professionals to explore how dairy’s cultural, scientific, and culinary dimensions can support health and wellbeing in diverse
communities.
The symposium featured interactive demonstrations, expert-led sessions, and discussions that examined dairy’s role in sustainable food systems, the science of taste, and the cultural relevance of nutrition education. Attendees participated in experiences such as a honey sensory lab, culinary demonstrations, and panels focused on “Nourishing the First 1,000 Days”—all designed to bridge scientific knowledge with practical, culturally inclusive applications.
“Nuestros Sabores is a powerful
example of how collaboration between national and state partners strengthens food and agricultural literacy,” said Amy DeLisio, CEO of Dairy Council of California. “By integrating science, culture, and cuisine,
we can better equip nutrition leaders to inspire healthier communities.”
“This symposium demonstrates the power of connection—bringing together diverse experts to share perspectives and elevate how we think
about dairy, food, and health,” said Lana Frantzen, PhD, Vice President of Health and Wellness at National Dairy Council. “It highlights how food and agricultural literacy can transform how professionals engage
with nutrition education.”
The partnership between National Dairy Council
and Dairy Council of California reflects a shared commitment to advancing education, sustainability, and culturally relevant nutrition through dairy’s story—from production to the plate.
