We are seeking a Mobile Dairy Classroom Instructor working out of or near Orange County, California to cover Orange County and San Diego County locations.
JOB TITLE: Mobile Dairy Classroom Instructor
REPORTS TO: Dairy Ag Education Director
PURPOSE STATEMENT: Mobile Dairy Classroom instructor is directly responsible for delivering engaging, dynamic Mobile Dairy Classroom (MDC) programs to both public and private elementary schools and community events in assigned geographical areas in support of Dairy Council of California’s Cause and Success Plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not listed by importance or priority. Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Agricultural Education, Animal Science or related field; prefer six semesters Child Development and/or Elementary Education; plus six months to one year of related experience and/or training in working with elementary school-age children; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Have demonstrated ability in working with bovines. Must have basic knowledge of computer and be able to use standard business software and applications. Instructors require dynamic public speaking skills and an outgoing personality.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees of the organization, and members of the dairy industry. Must speak and interact effectively and positively with students, teachers, guests, colleagues, and supervisors. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or education/business community members.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Ability to interpret an extensive array of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to evaluate a variety of situations for safety considerations and plan accordingly.
CERTIFICATES: Commercial Class A driver license (no air brakes); Certificate of Clearance from DOJ or fingerprints on file; Negative TB test. Teaching credential preferred. DMV print-out at the time of hire.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and walk or stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Must be able to push/manage a 700-1800 pound dairy cow.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must have the ability to establish, foster, and maintain positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in performing duties. Needs to be able to work without direct supervision. Some overnight travel and travel around the state is required. Must be able to travel in assigned geographical areas daily. The employee must be insurable under DCC’s automobile policy as a condition of employment.
