National Nutrition Month is observed each March, highlighting the importance of making educated food choices and building healthy eating habits. This year’s theme, Discover the Power of Nutrition, encourages students to explore how nutrient-rich foods fuel growth, learning and well-being. Milk and dairy foods play an important role in healthy eating patterns, providing high-quality protein and essential nutrients that support strong bones and overall health.

Schools can now apply for nutrition equipment grants through the GENYOUth School Wellness Portal as part of the End Student Hunger initiative. These grants help schools strengthen student access to nutritious meals by supporting equipment such as mobile meal carts and smoothie kits. Schools across the country are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their nutrition programs and support student wellness.
The week of March 2–6, 2026, is National School Breakfast Week, celebrating the important role a nutritious school breakfast plays in supporting student learning and overall well-being.

Each March, Dairy Council of California recognizes leaders who are advancing nutrition education, dairy-inclusive agricultural literacy and access to nutritious foods across California communities.
