Alex works as the Marketing and Digital Programs Director.
Alex Vigil brings over a decade of marketing expertise to his role as the Director of Marketing and Digital Programs. He oversees a team of specialists who work on content marketing initiatives to help promote the organization’s free, science-based nutrition resources and encourage influencers to teach nutrition to empower healthier communities in California and beyond.
Prior to joining the organization, Alex worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service at the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam, and then transitioned his skills to international tourism marketing at Visit California. There, he managed international marketing efforts for the United States and 13 key global markets, developing in-market trade and consumer initiatives to promote California as a premier travel destination.
Alex's agricultural roots run deep and strong. Between growing up on a cattle ranch in Shasta County and years spent at his great uncle’s dairy in Ripon, California, Alex is familiar with how farms and ranches work and the important role agriculture plays in nourishing people. After the birth of his daughter in 2018, he left tourism to join Dairy Council of California as a way to reconnect to his agricultural heritage and educate and empower future generations with the knowledge and tools to eat healthfully. Alex believes that nutrition education is part of the solution to build stronger communities. He is proud to help promote nutrition resources that teach children and their families why food choices matter and how to eat healthfully, laying the foundation for healthy eating patterns and lifelong health.
Alex earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics from the University of Idaho.

I feel passionate about our cause, which is also the dairy community’s contribution to community health. Through their generosity, we can empower influencers to make impactful improvements by teaching children and families how and why to eat healthfully.
