This year, students, educators, agricultural literacy partners and communities across California joined millions around the globe in celebrating World School Milk Day, September 24, 2025, recognizing milk’s essential role in student health, learning and agricultural literacy.

From live TV appearances to classroom farm tours, Dairy Council of California helped bring dairy’s story to life:

On Air: Dairy Council of California CEO Amy DeLisio, alongside Mobile Dairy Classroom  unit and school nutrition leader, appeared live on KCRA 3 Sacramento, sharing the importance of milk in school meals and nutrition education. Want to see the live segment? Watch on YouTube:

In the Classroom: Hundreds of students at Linwood Elementary in Visalia took part in lively Mobile Dairy Classroom assemblies, raising a “toast to the cow” and learning firsthand where their milk comes from.

Virtual Adventure: A Spanish-Language Virtual Farm Tour gave students a behind-the-scenes look at a working dairy farm—connecting what they drink in school to the farmers who make it possible.

As part of this global celebration, schools, community organizations and agricultural literacy partners across California and in other regions joined the #SchoolMilkShoutout, sharing photos and videos of creative celebrations using Dairy Council of California’s World School Milk Day Toolkit—available year-round to help educators promote nutrition and agricultural literacy.

“World School Milk Day is an opportunity to unite schools and communities in recognizing the nutritional value milk provides to students,” said Amy DeLisio, MPH, RDN, CEO of Dairy Council of California. “By celebrating milk in schools, we shine a light on the importance of school meals in nourishing children, setting them up for lifelong success.”
