StaffPhoto_MariaFryeMaria Frye is a Community Nutrition Adviser who builds relationships and collaborative opportunities with key influencers, including educators, school foodservice professionals, school leadership, health professionals and community leaders, to prioritize and elevate the health of children and families through nutrition.

A nutrition expert, Maria understands how food choices impact health outcomes. She believes that in order to support healthy children, families and communities, people need to have the knowledge on how to eat healthfully and have the means to access nutritious foods. She joined Dairy Council of California to put her expertise to use, working closely with school districts and health organizations in her region to provide professional trainings, support and nutrition resources to empower her partners to teach nutrition.

Before joining Dairy Council of California, Maria worked in several different clinical settings as an inpatient and outpatient dietitian and gave presentations to the community about healthy eating habits. Maria realized that she wanted to focus on nutrition education, and she loves promoting Dairy Council of California’s nutrition education resources. Maria had actually used the organization's resources when she was an outpatient dietitian and knew how helpful they were to the public.

Maria earned a Bachelor of Science degree in natural science from Loyola Marymount University and completed her dietetic training at California State University, Fresno and UCSF Medical Center.

She can be contacted at mfrye@healthyeating.org.

Life is precious and every day we should take the opportunity to nourish ourselves and others with healthy foods and positive messages.
